This collection brings together the Nivada Grenchen automatic watches: Swiss self-winding movements in 37 to 41 mm cases, from the three-hand Antarctic and F77 to the Depthmaster dive watch and our automatic chronographs.

      Our automatic movements

      • Soprod P024: Swiss automatic with 25 jewels, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a 38-hour power reserve. It runs the Super Antarctic, the Antarctic Spider 38 mm, the Antarctic Diver, the Aquamar, the Depthmaster and most of the F77.
      • Soprod M100BV: in the F77 Titanium Open Heart, a grade 5 titanium case with the balance wheel visible at 6 o'clock and a 42-hour power reserve.
      • La Joux-Perret G101: in the F77 Azurite and Smoky Quartz, with a 68-hour power reserve.
      • Automatic chronographs: the Autochron uses the Valjoux 7750 with date, 48 hours of power reserve and 200 m water resistance, and the Chronomaster 41 mm uses the Landeron 72. See all our chronographs.

      Automatic or hand-wound?

Both are mechanical. An automatic winds itself as you wear it, a hand-wound watch is wound through the crown. Our hand-wound models include the Antarctic 35 mm and the Chronomaster 38 mm InterBezel. For a smaller wrist, see our small watches.

      Automatic watches FAQ

      What is an automatic watch?

An automatic watch is a mechanical watch that winds itself. A rotor turns with the movements of your wrist and winds the mainspring, so there is no battery to change.

How long does an automatic watch run off the wrist?

It depends on the power reserve: about 38 hours for the Soprod P024, 42 hours for the Soprod M100BV, 48 hours for the Valjoux 7750 and 68 hours for the La Joux-Perret G101.

Do I need to wind an automatic watch?

Not if you wear it every day. If it has stopped, give the crown a few turns to start it, then set the time. On a screw-down crown, unscrew it first and screw it back in afterwards.

Which automatic dive watch should I choose?

The Depthmaster is water resistant to 1,000 m with a helium escape valve. The Antarctic Diver and Aquamar are 38 mm and water resistant to 200 m. See all our dive watches.

      Can I see the movement?

Several F77 models have a sapphire caseback that shows the movement, and the F77 Titanium Open Heart shows its balance wheel through an opening in the dial at 6 o'clock.
