ANTARCTIC GLACIER 38mm
$945.00

The Antarctic Glacier 38mm is a Swiss automatic watch with a vintage silver tuxedo dial: a vertically brushed silver centre framed by an anthracite ring, shiny silver applied indexes and light Old Radium luminous dots. The brushing catches the light the way ice does, and the anthracite ring gives the dial its depth.

It continues a discovery. At Cenic Watches in Grenchen, Nivada Grenchen found 18 original Antarctic Glacier dials and vintage ETA movements, which became the Antarctic Glacier Vintage. This 38mm model carries the spirit of that original dial forward with a modern movement, and its design is rooted in the Antarctic Diver of the 1960s.

The case is 38 mm of 316L stainless steel, shiny and brushed, 11.95 mm thick and 45 mm lug to lug, with a screw-down crown and a double-domed sapphire crystal. The closed caseback is embossed with the US base in Antarctica, a tribute to the polar explorers of the 1950s. Inside, the Swiss Soprod P024 automatic movement gives hours, minutes, seconds and date, at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 38-hour power reserve. Water resistance is 10 ATM. For a smaller, hand-wound version, see the Antarctic Glacier 35mm.
