The Antarctic Erotic White is a 38 mm Swiss hand-wound watch with a solid matt white dial, black printed text and applied indexes holding Super-LumiNova of the Super 7403C grade. Bright by day and glowing at night, it is the most legible execution of the Antarctic Erotic collection.

The design rests on the Antarctic platform of the 1950s, the line Nivada Grenchen links to Operation Deep Freeze, the 1955-56 American expedition to Antarctica. The 38 mm case in 316L stainless steel keeps those proportions: 12.45 mm thick, 45 mm lug to lug, shiny and brushed, with a signed screw-down crown and 10 ATM water resistance.

Behind the classic face hides a private complication. Wind the crown and the flat sapphire caseback reveals a penguin animation driven by a cam system re-engineered within the modified Soprod P054 hand-wound movement. The motion that powers the watch also moves the scene, and nothing shows from the front. The penguin emblem was patented by the brand in 1965. Prefer a darker dial? Origin Swiss Made

Built on the iconic Antarctic platform, first issued for U.S. Navy Operation Deep Freeze in 1955–1956, the Antarctic Erotic White reinterprets one of Nivada Grenchen's most enduring designs. The 38mm case in polished and brushed 316L stainless steel keeps the proportions of the original: wearable all day, substantial without weight, balanced without bulk. The white dial is matte and unhurried. Applied indexes catch the light and hold Super-LumiNova (Super 7403C grade), giving clean legibility in any condition. The contrast between the bright dial, black printed text, and the warm glow of the lume at night makes this one of the most legible executions in the collection.

Flip the watch over and wind it. The animated caseback, entirely invisible from the front, comes to life through the winding motion. A cam system re-engineered within the Soprod P054 movement converts the circular crown action into a vertical animation on the sapphire-glazed caseback. No button. No battery. The motion of winding is the trigger. This follows the 18th-century watchmaking tradition of the "erotic automata": private, mechanical tableaux designed not to be shown, but discovered.

The penguin motif on the caseback is not decorative fancy. Nivada Grenchen officially patented it in 1965, making it one of the few watch brand emblems with a registered archival patent. It connects directly to the Antarctic's polar roots, and to decades of field use in conditions extreme enough to test any movement.

Inside: the Soprod P054 manual-winding movement, re-engineered in-house to drive both timekeeping and the animation mechanism simultaneously without affecting power reserve or reliability. The movement beats at its original frequency, the animation adds no meaningful weight, and the screw-down crown maintains the 10 ATM water resistance rating unchanged.

Each Antarctic Erotic White ships in a custom faux-fur watch roll inspired by the collection's polar heritage, complete with a matching travel pouch.

A Legacy Reimagined

Built on the iconic Antarctic of the 1950s, this white dial 38mm preserves vintage proportions while introducing a discreet mechanical complication hidden on the caseback. The penguins are moving when you wind the watch only!

Inspired by the Caseback from the mid 60s & 70s

First introduced on our vintage models inspired by mid-century polar expeditions, the penguin engraving watch, seen here on the white dial edition, became a quiet signature of the collection.

The Penguin, Patented Since 1965

More than a symbol, the penguin is part of Nivada Grenchen’s heritage. Officially registered as a patent in 1965, this emblem traces back to the Antarctic collection’s roots in the age of polar exploration. Reinterpreted here from the original archival patent, it connects the Antarctic Erotic to a genuine piece of the brand’s history where vintage inspiration, playful character, and watchmaking legacy meet, brought to life here on a white dial that echoes the patina of original 1960s Antarctic watches.

How the animated caseback complication works?

What happens in Antarctica…
stays in Antarctica.

Inside the Secret Complication

Conceived by 'Dr. Coldwater,' the animated caseback complication on this white dial Swiss watch transforms the simple act of winding into a hidden mechanical spectacle. Entirely revealed on the reverse side of the watch, this private animation is driven by motion, engineering, and a touch of irreverence. In this video, discover the assembly of the complication and the mechanical ingenuity behind a mechanism designed as a discreet surprise where playful storytelling meets serious watchmaking.
