The Antarctic Erotic Tuxedo is a 38 mm Swiss hand-wound watch with a two-tone silver tuxedo dial: a central section and an outer ring in contrasting tones, with applied indexes in a high-contrast layout. It is the most graphic dial of the Antarctic Erotic collection, sharp enough for evening wear and easy to read at a glance.
Its complication is meant for the wearer alone. The modified Soprod P054 hand-wound movement carries a cam system that turns the rotary motion of winding into a vertical animation, visible only through the flat sapphire caseback: the penguin scene moves while you wind and stops when you stop. No battery, no motor. The penguin itself comes from the brand's archive, registered as a patent in 1965.
Built on the Antarctic platform of the 1950s, the case keeps its vintage proportions: 38 mm in 316L stainless steel with shiny and brushed surfaces, 12.45 mm thick, 45 mm lug to lug, under a double-domed sapphire crystal. At its core, it remains a true daily watch: a perfectly balanced 38mm stainless steel alternating polished and brushed finish, paired with timeless dial executions inspired by vintage Antarctic models. But beyond the dial lies its secret. Flip the watch and interact with it the animated caseback comes to life through the winding motion. A miniature mechanical automaton, engineered as an extension of the movement itself, transforms a simple gesture into a private, playful experience.
This hidden animation remains invisible to the outside world, reserved only for the wearer. This concept follows a long-standing watchmaking tradition of discreet complications from automata to hidden scenes designed not to be shown, but discovered. Inside, a modified hand-wound Soprod P054 movement powers both timekeeping and the animation.
The mechanism has been re-engineered so the winding action drives a cam system, translating motion into a vertical animation on the caseback, without compromising reliability or wearability. Beyond its mechanical ingenuity, the Antarctic Erotic carries meaning. Rooted in the Antarctic legacy, first tested during U.S. Navy Operation Deep Freeze (1955–1956) the penguin became a historic symbol of the collection.
